City of Lynnwood Public Hearing - Utility Rates
New Schedule of rates for 2023-2028
LYNNWOOD, WA (October 4, 2022) - The City of Lynnwood Public Works Department has completed an analysis of water, sewer, and stormwater rates for its customers. This is a regularly occurring analysis and update of rates done every 3 years which results in a 6-year adopted schedule of rates.
A major focus of the analysis was on the sewer system and increases necessary in order to fund major capital improvements at Lynnwood’s Wastewater Treatment Plant over the next 10 years. These improvements are estimated to cost $150 to $200 million. They must be made in order to comply with stricter standards for discharging into Puget Sound, and improve how we handle the wastewater treatment byproducts. Despite these needed increases, Lynnwood’s utility rates would continue to remain among the lowest in the region.
A Public Hearing is scheduled for Monday October 10, 2022 at 6:00 p.m. at the Lynnwood City Hall City Council Chambers. The public is invited to attend and make comments. The City Council will consider public input before adopting an ordinance that sets the new schedule of rates for 2023-2028. More information will be available in the council agenda packet www.lynnwoodwa.gov/Government/City-Council.
