After five years of service, Council Member Julieta Altamirano-Crosby announced her immediate resignation from the Lynnwood City Council.

Last night, Council Member Altamirano-Crosby announced her resignation from the Council in a letter read by Council Member Patrick Decker. She cited her recent election to serve as the District 2 Snohomish County PUD Commissioner as her reason for leaving the Council.

Council Member Altamirano-Crosby joined the Lynnwood City Council in 2019 and since then has also served as Council Vice President for two years. An active member in the community, Council Member Altamirano-Crosby is involved in numerous boards and organizations including the League of Women Voters in Snohomish County, a Stakeholder Member of Re-opening of Washington Schools for 2020-2021 school year, and a Board member of the following organizations: Lynnwood Food Bank, Community Leadership Board of the National Resource Center for Refugees, Immigrants, and Migrants (NRC-RIM), and the Foundation for Edmonds School District. She also served as a liaison on multiple boards as a Council Member, including the Parks & Recreation Board and the Sister City Committee.

“Serving as your councilmember over the past five years has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life,” her letter says. “Together, we’ve accomplished so much—guided by a shared commitment to dignity, compassion, and service. I am truly humbled by the trust you’ve placed in me, and the work we’ve done to move our city forward.”

In a statement, City of Lynnwood Mayor Christine Frizzell expressed her appreciation for Council Member Altamirano-Crosby’s impact on the community.

“I have appreciated Julieta’s ability to bring a unique perspective to a discussion and use that viewpoint to improve and help our community thrive,” said Mayor Frizzell. “Julieta’s passion for our community is unparalleled.
